Photography Locations

When you book a photographer to take your photos, whether it is just you or your whole family, location is a pretty important thing! It sets the stage for the image & can tell a lot about you &/or your family.

Some photographers have their own studios, some have spots they frequent, like downtown, local parks, etc. Some photographers will come to your home or travel with you on vacation. If you have an idea of what type of surroundings you’re wanting in your photos, that’s usually enough for the photographer to guide you to a great location. If you’ve already seen these, I have a whole other set on Photography Locations Part 2!

~Different Locations Tell Different Stories~

Here is a guide to help tell yours!

Minto Brown Island Park | Salem, Oregon

If you live in Salem, you have probably heard of Minto Brown. This park is the biggest in Salem & it is HUGE! When I say huge, I mean like 1,200 acres huge! It connects the Riverfront Park with South Salem via the Taco Bridge. Ok, it’s not actually called that, but it honestly looks like a taco!

There are sooo many places to take photos: wooded areas, 29+ miles of trails, bridges, fields, & so, so many trees. Whatever you’re looking for, environment-wise, this is probably one of the most versitile locations.

Bush’s Pasture Park | Salem, Oregon

Bush’s Pasture Park is in the center of Salem. It has so many places to take photos: the historical Bush House, gardens, a greenhouse, wooded areas, trails, a gazebo, etc.

This park is 90 acres! There’s also an art center, playgrounds, & picnic areas, so if you’re not going there to get photos done, it’s still an awesome place to explore!

Oregon State Capitol | Salem, Oregon

Cherry Blossoms

The Oregon State Capitol Park location is only available for a few weeks in March every year, plus or minus a few weeks due to weather.

Weekday sessions are perfect for this location because it is usually packed on the weekends!

GrEAT ROOM Studios | Salem, Oregon

The Great Room is an indoor studio space, full of natural light & perfect for photographing individuals, families, & even boudior sessions!

It basically looks like an aesthetic studio apartment lol. Furtniture is able to be moved around, there are blank walls for Business headshots & other seating options in all sizes & for whatever we need to get the images you want!

Your Place

I know that putting that as a location seems silly, but seriously, I will come to your house, your grandma’s garden, or your cousin’s-uncle’s-best-friend’s barn, I don’t care! If that’s where you want photos done, let’s do it!

If you’re more comfortable having photos done in your own space, that’s awesome! I’d rather have you be comfortable because if you’re not, sometimes that can show in the photos & we don’t want that!

*Usually Newborn sessions are done at your home where you & baby have been chillin’ & bonding. It is waaay less stress on them & YOU!

This is just a few to give you an idea. If you need more location ideas, can check out Photography Locations Part 2!

As always, if you have a spot in mind, let me know! I love to explore new places & add them to my list. If there was one on here that you didn’t see, send me some screen shots from my portfolio & I’ll let you know where it is so we can meet up & get so awesome images of you & yours!

I can’t wait to hear from you!

With all the love,

Jenn
